چکیده
Africa has faced problems in the area of media communication due to a lack of resources, technology and manpower and poor planning. In recent years, Africans have begun to argue the point of a need for comprehensive communications planning that considers economic limitations. An effective form of education and communication for Africa should present information in an inexpensive, ad hoc manner that demonstrates a cultural awareness and presents relevant information that is accessible to cross cultural groups. Theater is the medium that meets these criteria. Theater can provide validation of beliefs and traditions, an understanding of the historical past and a new perspective on everyday situations and problems. There are 3 applicable methods of theater: the Agitprop Method, Participatory theater and the Forum method. Because rural peoples are about 80% of the population, it is imperative that Africa implement a form of communication that insures an exchange of information. Theater has provided this in Africa.
